The Iraqi parliament on Tuesday approved a bill which criminalizes the carrying and opening of Israeli flags in public and social gatherings.
The Iraqi Central Government launched an investigation into those who were spotted brandishing Israeli flags in the rallies organized in many cities, particularly Erbil, Sulaymaniyah and Kirkuk, during the illegitimate Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) referendum voting on whether or not to declare independence from Baghdad.
The act of parliament bans all security forces, except Baghdad’s Federal Police, from Kirkuk, which will reportedly be effective for other disputed territories as well.
