Iraqi forces pass into Daesh-held Mosul after two years as a part of the operation initiated on October 17
Iraq Defense Ministry said that the Iraqi army entered the Iraqi province of Mosul, which has been under Daesh control, for the first time after two years.
The Mosul operation is being conducted with the participation of Iraqi soldiers, U.S. soldiers, Turkish-trained fighters and Peshmerga forces.
In mid-2014, the Daesh terrorist group captured the northern city of Mosul and overran vast swathes of territory in northern and western Iraq.
The operation began October 17.
