Tunisian’s Ennahda party finished first in weekend parliamentary elections, according to the High Election Commission.
Based on the official results of the elections, which were held to determine new members of the 217-seat chamber, the party won a majority with 52 deputies.
The Heart of Tunisia party came in second with 38 members, followed by the Democratic Current party with 22, People’s Movement party with 16 and Long Live Tunisia party with 14.
Other Tunisian parties won the remaining 75 seats.
Following the revolution in Tunisia in 2011, the second parliamentary elections were held on Oct. 6.
