At least eleven members of a wedding party were killed and 43 injured when their bus was hit by an express train on a railway crossing, official says

Eleven members of a wedding party died and at least 43 were injured when their bus was hit by an oncoming express train on a rail crossing in Barobazar, near Bangladesh's western border with India early Friday morning.

The Simanta Express train hit the bus, which was travelling from the northern city of Syedpur to the southern city of Khulna and dragged it for a kilometer, said police superintendent Jahidul Islam.

The accident occurred at an unguarded railway crossing, allowing cars and buses to move freely across the track during the early hours of Friday. However, railway police have arrested the guard who was supposed to have been in charge of the crossing.
