Syrian opposition fighter says their weapons were no match against the forces of Assad and his Iranian allies
Aleppan Muhammed Gözübüyük, who is a member of the Muntasır Billah Brigade, spoke to Yeni Şafak daily about the war conditions in Aleppo.
Gözübüyük explained that there was only one route leading out of Aleppo, adding, “The seige [by Assad's forces and Iranian allies] blocked the road leading out of Aleppo. We resisted under harsh conditions. We did not have access to food. The civilians felt hungry."
The people of Aleppo did not only experience limited access to food, but also suffered from having limited access to medicine, water and electricity.
The seige by Assad's regime and his Iranian allies targeted civilians as well as opposition fighters.
“We were under heavy bombing. Chemical weapons and international weapons were used [by Assad's forces and Iranian allies]. Many civilians and opposition fighters lost their lives due to the chemical weapons. We were forced to retreat," said Gözübüyük, describing the terrifying assaults.
Before the second attack on Aleppo, Iran sent more than 5,000 soldiers to support the Assad regime.
“Militia from Pakistan and Afghanistan also came. Aleppo burnt down because of the bombs. The mountains and stones of Aleppo melted away because of the fuses. PYD and Iranian terrorists advanced alongside Assad," Gözübüyük said.
A seven-storey building where opposition fighters stored heavy weapons was targeted by Assad.
"Assad's forces used new tanks in Aleppo. Tanks and weapons of the opposition fighters did not work against Assad's tanks. Assad advanced with ease. Aleppo has fallen to Iran," Gözübüyük told Yeni Şafak daily.
Gözübüyük reported that 80,000 people were overcrowded in a very small region due to the seige.
“There was only one hospital, but there was no medicine. Within ten minutes of cluster bombs being used, hundreds of wounded people were brought to the hospital," said Gözübüyük.
“Iranian terrorists raped 200 young girls when they entered Aleppo. They vilified the women's honor," he continued.
The Iranian militia has had a strong presence in Aleppo, and have played a vital role in assisting Assad in taking over the city.
“Iran has taken over Aleppo. It was a very dramatic end for Aleppo," Gözübüyük said, concluding with “After God, we have only Turkey."
