Two Syrian opposition fighters fell martyr and a total of 62 Daesh targets were targeted on the 52nd day of the Operation Euphrates Shield.
Special Task Force Groups made up of moderate fighters have tried to achieve gains in their combat, still underway in the sector between Jarabulus and al-Rai town.
Two Free Syrian Army, FSA, opposition fighters fell martyr in the clashes during the daylight fighting. “The opposition elements have enforced full control in a total of 134 busy residential areas in and around 1100 square kilometers since the beginning of the operation," the statement said.
The Euphrates Shield operation is considered to be the first Turkish military operation in Syria since the Syrian conflict erupted in 2011.
Turkey sent its tanks, planes and ground forces into Syria on Aug 24th in a joint operation with Syrian moderate groups, fighting under the umbrella of the Free Syrian Army, FSA, in a bid to clear Jarabulus from the Daesh terror network in its last stronghold on the Turkish border and encounter the advancement of the U.S.-backed Syrian Kurdish terror group, PYD.
Turkey-backed opposition fighters launched the second part of the operation into Syria against Daesh earlier last month, in a move that U.S. officials view as a necessary step to root out the terrorist group from the war-torn country.
Turkish armed forces have conducted this operation in the framework of Turkey's rights under the international law, and UN resolutions calling for encounter against Daesh, as well as the right of self-defense, codified in Article 51 of the UN Charter.
