A set of 12 landscape paintings by famous Chinese artist Qi Baishi (1864-1957) sold for 931.5 million yuan ($140 million) at an auction in Beijing on Sunday night, setting a new record for Chinese artworks. The set of ink wash paintings entitled "Twelve Landscape Screens" was completed in 1925. The bidding started with an offer of 450 million yuan by the auction house and the deal was closed at 810 million yuan.
