The bus belonging to the Istanbul team was hit by a shotgun shell on the Black Sea coast of Turkey Saturday, injuring the driver

Turkish police have taken into custody two people Tuesday over the armed attack on football club Fenerbahçe's team bus in the northern Black Sea region, according to police sources.

Nihat S. and Emre A. were taken into custody by police in Trabzon early Tuesday, according to police sources.

"Our findings (...) point to these two people," Trabzon Governor Abdil Celil Öz said Tuesday.

He added that one of suspects, who was in the convoy traveling with the bus, was filming the scene with a cellphone camera after the attack.

The governor said the suspect was accidentally filmed by media organizations covering the incident.

The suspects are currently being questioned by the police, Öz added.

The bus belonging to the Istanbul team came under attack Saturday as it was travelling on the Rize-Trabzon highway near the Arsin district on the eastern Black Sea coast of Turkey after the game against Çaykur Rizespor in Rize province, which Fenerbahce won 5-1.

The Yellow Canaries were heading to Trabzon to catch their plane for Istanbul.

The bus was hit by a shotgun shell, leaving the driver injured. A shotgun and other items were later found at the scene.

After the incident, the Turkish Football Federation postponed league games for a week, while Fenerbahçe announced they would "not play football" until the perpetrators were found.
