Salah may be presented a piece of land in Holy Mecca outside the Noble Sanctuary, says deputy mayor

Egyptian soccer star Mohamed Salah will be rewarded with a parcel of land in Mecca, according to the deputy mayor of the holy Muslim city.

According to a report by Arabic-language Saudi newspaper Sabq, the Deputy Mayor of Mecca Fahad al-Rooqi announced that the Liverpool sensation will be rewarded with a plot of land in the holy city.

"There are several choices regarding giving this piece of land," said al-Rooqi.

"The way to go will be determined by Captain Mohamed Salah as well as the Saudi system. If the Saudi system allows the land to be owned by Salah, he will be given a piece of land in Holy Mecca outside Haram (the Noble Sanctuary). Another option will be having a mosque built in his name on the land.

"The gift is a tribute to the Egyptian star known for his great morals and generous character. It is also a recognition of his merits as an ambassador of religious tolerance and ethical values and as a positive model for Muslims in Britain. We are all proud of him," Al Rooqi said.

After his stellar performance since his transfer to Liverpool, Salah scored 43 goals and made 15 assists in 47 matches played at the Premier League club.
