The business world and economic circles in Turkey congratulated Erdogan after being elected 12th president by direct popular vote for the first time in the history of modern Turkey.
Salih Bezci, the president of the Ankara Chamber of Commerce, said, ''The result of the first round of the election showed the decisiveness of the Turkish people.''
''The result, as the business world expected, will be a positive impact to continue the economic stability as well as political,'' Bezci said in a written statement.
''It was essential for Turkey to focus its agenda on the economy without impairing its achieved stability. Now, our agenda should be returned to the economy from politics,'' Bezci added.
''Erdogan, who restored economic and political stability to Turkey, also will provide large contributions to the country as a president.'' He stated.
President of the Turkish Industrialists'' and Businessmen''s Association, or TUSIAD, also welcomed Erdogan in a statement and wished all political actors, institutes, and authorities to work their best to establish the culture of democracy, political stability and to develop the atmosphere of peace and prosperity.
Nail Olpak, the Independent Industrialists' and Businessmen's Association, or MUSIAD, stated that the Turkish nation changed the flow of their own history and put a note for their next generation that they will proudly remember.
''The 12-year-long struggle for rights and freedom carried on by considering any cost has been the foundation of our culture of democracy and political achievement,'' he said in a released statement.
''This presidential election is a very big and fundamental step in shaping the new Turkey,'' Olpak highlighted.
The President of Sabanci Holding, Güler Sabanci, also celebrated Erdogan with a short statement. She also thanked Abdullah Gul for his outstanding performance during his 7-year Presidential term.
Mustafa Koca, the president of the Anatolian Tigers Businessmen''s Association, or ASKON, stated that this election refers to a flare of extremely important changes for the future.
He said, ''The election was held at the starting point of Turkey''s new historical era.''
''This is a sign of starting important changes in terms of political perception as well as the attitude that will be reflected in the political system,'' Koca added.
