President says Ukraine's Security Service currently dealing with injured captives

Ukraine captured two North Korean soldiers during battles in the Russian Kursk region, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy claimed on Saturday.

Ukraine's Security Service (SBU) is currently dealing with the captives, Zelesnkyy said on Telegram, adding that both men are wounded and taking them prisoners was a difficult task.

"I instructed the Security Service of Ukraine to provide journalists access to these prisoners. The world needs to know what's going on," he said.

Zelenskyy also published pictures of two Asian-looking men, both severely wounded, one with a bandaged head and seemingly without hands or hands hidden under the jacket, while the other had both hands heavily bandaged.

Zelesnkyy also published a military ID found on one of the men, issued for Antonin Aranzyn, born in Russia's Tyva region. The second one did not have any documents.

Ukraine had previously reported capturing North Korean soldiers several times, but all of them died within hours after being captured.

In October 2024, intelligence services from Ukraine, South Korea, and the US said several thousands of North Korean soldiers arrived in Russia to fight against Ukrainian forces.
