At least nine PKK terrorists were "neutralized" in Turkish military airstrikes in southeastern Turkey and northern Iraq, according to the Turkish military on Saturday.
Turkish authorities often use the word "neutralized" in their statements to imply the terrorists in question either surrendered or were killed or captured.
In a post on its official Twitter account, the General Staff said airstrikes hit the rural area of the Turkish province of Hakkari and the Iraqi regions of Zap and Avasin-Basyan in which seven PKK terrorists were 'neutralized'.
According to a statement by the Hakkari Governor's Office, two terrorists were spotted by a drone in the Mt. Ikiyaka region in Yuksekova district and 'neutralized' by the Turkish military.
In its more than 30-year terror campaign against Turkey, the PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU -- has been responsible for the deaths of some 40,000 people.
