Protocol covers areas such as trade, investments, transportation, energy, agriculture and industry

Türkiye and the central Asian nation of Uzbekistan signed the 8th Term Joint Economic Commission (JEC) Protocol on Thursday and a related 82-article Action Plan.

Cevdet Yilmaz, Vice President of Türkiye, and Jamshid Kuchkarov, Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan, met in Uzbekistan's capital Tashkent.

The protocol covers areas such as trade, investments, transportation, energy, agriculture and industry.

"Among the prominent elements of this action plan are the expansion of the Preferential Trade Agreement, ensuring freedom of transit in logistics, and developing joint capacity in the fields of energy and mining," Yilmaz said on X.

He stated that Türkiye is determined to further deepen the "deep-rooted brotherhood" with its "ancestral homeland," Uzbekistan, in every field, adding "we believe that this strong cooperation will also contribute to the common future of the Turkic World."

"I hope that the Protocol, the 82-article Action Plan and the signed agreements will be beneficial for our countries and the business world of both countries," Yilmaz added.
