PM Yıldırım, CHP Leader Kılıçdaroğlu call for unity, solidarity and justice against undemocratic goings-on, adding no violence is acceptable following coup attempt

Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım and Republican People's Party (CHP) Leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu have emphasized the significance of unity and solidarity in reaction to the foiled coup, which aimed at toppling the democratically elected government and left 208 people martyred.

"Our sensitivity is at its highest level against some violent footages to be featured on social media. Everything needed will be done for those who act unlawful on duty. We urgently need more unity and solidarity along with fraternal discourse," the Prime Minister said.

The Turkish Prime Minister said that democracy and the political will won against the illegal coup attempt, thanking CHP Leader for his discernment over the happenings.

"We experienced which other political parties acted prudently over what has happened. We need to be more careful about the provocateurs. Because a fault cannot be corrected with another fault. Justice will be needed. No one can inflict violence on another; no revenge is acceptable, " Yıldırım said.

CHP Leader said that he informed the PM about his concerns. "It is our duty to deal with the social tension. We must be normalized immediately. I thank the Prime Minister for his words," Kılıçdaroğlu added.

As many as 164 people were martyred in the ensuing violence. FETÖ/PDY terrorist organization headed by Fetullah Gülen is responsible for the foiled coup; therefore, the Turkish government has been detaining suspects who are allegedly linked to the terrorist organization.

Some 2,839 military personnel involved in the coup attempt have been arrested, and 20 pro-coup soldiers, including some senior officers, were killed in the attempt to overthrow the government.
