Fidan also meets commander of Lebanese armed forces Joseph Aoun as part of his visit to Beirut

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan on Tuesday met Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati in Beirut, the Turkish Foreign Ministry said on X, as the deadly conflict in Gaza rages on for the 11th day.

Fidan also met his Lebanese counterpart Abdallah Bouhabib and commander of the Lebanese armed forces Joseph Aoun.

Incessant Israeli bombardment and blockade of the Gaza Strip have continued, with at least 1 million people having been displaced, according to the UN relief agency for refugees.

Gaza is witnessing a dire humanitarian crisis with no electricity, while water, food, fuel and medical supplies are running out.

The fighting began when Hamas on Oct. 7 initiated Operation Al-Aqsa Flood, a multi-pronged surprise attack including a barrage of rocket launches and infiltrations into Israel via land, sea, and air. It said the incursion was in retaliation for the storming of the Al-Aqsa Mosque and increased settler violence.

The Israeli military then launched Operation Swords of Iron against Hamas targets within the Gaza Strip.

Clashes have also flared up on the border between Lebanon and Israel.
