BIST 100 index goes up 0.67 percent at Friday's open; Turkish lira gains ground
Turkey's benchmark stock index rose by 0.67 percent or 619.11 points to start the day at 93,006.52 points on Friday.
The BIST banking and holding sector indexes increased 0.35 and 0.64 percent, respectively.
All sector indices went up while the BIST basic metal sector index posted the best performance with a 1.8 percent rise.
On Thursday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index rose 2.42 percent to close at 92,387.41 points with a trading volume of 6.78 billion liras ($1.22 billion).
The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate slipped to 5.5050 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT), compared with Thursday's closing rate of 5.5560.
The euro/lira rate was 6.2860, versus 6.3500 at the previous close, while one British pound traded for 7.1680 Turkish liras, and the GBP/TRY was 7.1900 at Thursday's close.
The price of Brent oil was $73.09 per barrel as of 10.00 a.m. local time (0700GMT) Friday, up from around $66 at the beginning of this year.
