A Daesh Emir's arrest, which was kept under wraps, led to the identification of hundreds of terror cell members in Turkey

New information has emerged regarding a major blow dealt to the Daesh terrorist organization by the Turkish police during the process which led to the capture of Masharipov, the terrorist responsible for the Istanbul Reina attack that killed 39 innocent people on New Year's Eve.

In the aftermath of an operation conducted by Istanbul Anti-terrorism Police Directorate squads, a high-ranking Daesh Emir was arrested on January 2.

The Emir, who is of Tajik origin and goes by the codename Tajik Azra, headed a Daesh terrorist cell composed of members who hail from Asia Minor countries that operate in Turkey.

The interrogation of the Emir, whose arrest was treated as a closely-guarded secret, led to the identification of hundreds of cell members.

An arrest warrant for the Emir, whose name is thought to be Ahmed, was issued yesterday by the court.

'Persons in charge of 4 cells were captured in foolproof arrests'

Following the arrest of the Daesh Emir, a large number of cell members were identified during the course of his questioning.

Additionally, 4 more persons in charge of 4 terror cells, identified as A.G., Z.K., A.A. and F.R., were captured in foolproof arrests during the ongoing police operations,

It has been reported that following their questioning, which lasted for 20 days, a court warrant for their arrest was issued yesterday.

'They produced military camouflage uniforms'

During the course of the Reina operations, background information on 20 high-ranking members in the Daesh cell had emerged.

Upon the arrest of the cell's terrorist Emir on January 2, the abrupt interruption of instructions to cell members caused a state of panic. Police officers in charge of the operations continued intelligence and identification work until, one by one, they managed to identify all cell members.

Every night, close to 200 cell terrorists would be snatched by police squads.

In an operation conducted in the province of Silivri, a villa used by terrorists for weapon and bomb training was discovered.

During the same operation, police discovered a textile mill that was founded by the Daesh Emir in question in the district of Zeytinburnu, where military camouflage uniforms were exclusively produced and smuggled into Syria and Iraq.
