Qatar announces numbers of released Israelis and Palestinians in 6th batch of prisoner swap between Israel and Hamas

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has received 10 Israelis who were being held captive in Gaza by the Palestinian group Hamas, Israeli Army Radio said late Wednesday.

The Israelis are the sixth batch of detainees to be released under a prisoner swap deal between Israel and Hamas.

Four Thai nationals were also released and handed over to the Red Cross, according to Israeli Army Radio.

Majed Al Ansari, Qatar’s Foreign Ministry spokesman, said five Israeli minors and five women were released today.

He added that among the released Israelis are dual-nationals including one Dutch minor, three Germans and one American.

Regarding the Palestinians released from Israeli jails, he said the list includes 16 minors and 14 women.

Earlier in the day, Hamas said that it released two Israeli-Russian nationals held in Gaza in response to requests by Russia’s leadership.

Qatar announced an agreement late Monday to extend an initial four-day humanitarian pause in Gaza for two more days, under which further prisoner exchanges would be carried out.

Israel launched a massive military campaign in the Gaza Strip following a cross-border attack by Hamas on Oct. 7.

It has since killed over 15,000 people, including 6,150 children and 4,000 women, according to health authorities in the enclave.

The official Israeli death toll stands at 1,200.
