President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's youngest daughter Sümeye Erdoğan and son-in-law Selçuk Bayraktar became parents on Saturday night.
Sümeyye Erdoğan gave birth to a baby girl at Medipol Hospital. The baby was named Canan Aybüke, and was born at 35-weeks.
Selçuk Bayraktar is the son of businessman Özdemir Bayraktar and is the technical manager at Baykar. Bayraktar is a leading figure in Turkey’s domestic production of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV).
The youngest of four children, Sümeyye Erdoğan graduated with an undergraduate degree from Indiana University in the U.S. and received her master’s degree at the London School of Economics and Political Science. During her father’s term as prime minister, she served as an adviser to the vice-president of the Justice and Development Party (AK Party).
