Another group of Syrian refugees have returned to their homes in Jarabulus, which was liberated from the Daesh terrorist organization, years after surviving as refugees in Turkey.
Syria's moderate opposition forces took full control of the strategic border town in a massive operation backed by Turkish and U.S. air strikes on Aug. 25, only a day after the launch of Operation Euphrates Shield.
The last refugee group taking their belongings and luggage have entered Syrian territory through the crossing in the town of Qarqamish, Gaziantep province.
After a security check at the border post, the group, mostly women and children, entered Jarabulus, now completely free of Daesh violence. “I am very happy to return back home. I am excited as well," Zeyd Abbar said upon his arrival in Jarabulus nearly a year after surviving as a refugee in Turkey. “I have been longing to return home and see my town where I was born and raised."
Syrians have been greeted by the Free Syrian Army (FSA) members at the custom office of Syria's Jarabulus border gate. They were escorted to their homes in vehicles.
