An exhibition of Anadolu Agency's photographs and footage taken during Turkey's July 15 coup attempt went on display in four different countries as part of celebrations to mark the 93rd anniversary of the founding of the Turkish Republic.
Turkish embassies in Bulgaria's Sofia, France's Paris, Georgia's Tbilisi and the U.S.' Washington marked the anniversary by holding special receptions during which Anadolu Agency's July 15 pictures and videos were displayed.
Turkey's embassy in Washington D.C. also showcased Anadolu Agency's book titled “Minute By Minute FETO Coup Attempt".
The photographs taken by Anadolu Agency photojournalists, who followed the deadly events on the ground, featured how the night of July 15 unfolded.
The July 15 defeated coup had left 241 people martyred and nearly 2,200 injured.
The government accuses the Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETO) leader, Fetullah Gulen, of being the mastermind behind the coup attempt and a long-running campaign to overthrow the state through the infiltration of Turkish institutions, particularly the military, police, and judiciary, forming what is commonly known as the “parallel state".
Gulen has been living in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania since 1999.
Turkey is currently under a state of emergency following the defeated coup and had the order extended for three more months from Oct. 19.
