Police officers in Mersin detained for using Bylock to mask secret terror communications
As many as 17 police officers were arrested as a part of the investigation against the coupist Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETÖ) over using the Bylock program, a cell phone application that has been used by the terrorist organization since 2014 for conducting secret writing and messaging.
The detentions followed the arrest warrants issued by prosecutors in southern Turkish province of Mersin.
Seventeen officers were apprehended and ordered to appear before the courts.
Turkey has been conducting an extensive investigation into FETÖ following the coup bid of July 15, which targeted the democratically-elected Turkish government
The coup bid was instigated by Fetullah Gülen, the leader of FETÖ, who is currently in the U.S.
