Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and his Kazakh counterpart Nursultan Nazarbayev on Thursday stressed the importance of “strong cooperation” between their respective countries.

Speaking at a joint press conference, Erdoğan stressed that the two allied countries will take additional steps to consolidate ties further in the future, noting that Turkey will always stand beside Kazakhstan.

“We will strive for Turkish- Kazakh ties to reach stellar level in the future. We have the opportunity to work together on various bilateral issues in relevant fields such as economy, trade, defense, culture and education,” emphasized Erdoğan.

“I’m very pleased with this cooperation, our priority is to further improve this cooperation by expanding ties between our two countries,” said Nazarbayev.

Two-billion-dollar trade volume

Turkey and Kazakhstan aimed at boosting their bilateral trade volume to $10 billion with the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway line set to work at full capacity, according to Mithat Yenigun, the vice president of the Turkish Foreign Economic Relations Board.

Speaking at the Turkey-Kazakhstan Investment Forum on Wednesday, Yenigun said that the current bilateral trade volume between Turkey and Kazakhstan exceeded $2 billion.
