More than 14,000 injured in Israeli airstrikes since October last year, says Health Ministry
Israeli airstrikes on Lebanon killed at least 53 people and injured 99 others over the weekend, the Lebanese Health Ministry said Sunday.
The fatalities on Saturday raised the total number of people killed in Israeli attacks in the country since October 2023 to 3,189, with 14,078 injured, the ministry said in a statement.
Israel has escalated its air campaign in Lebanon since late September against what it claims are targets of the Hezbollah group in an escalation from year-long cross-border warfare between Israel and the Lebanese group since the start of Israel's brutal offensive on the Gaza Strip on Oct. 7, 2023.
Israel expanded the conflict by launching an incursion into southern Lebanon on Oct. 1 this year.
