Biden, Trump, their spouses will have tea at presidential mansion
Outgoing US President Joe Biden and first lady Jill Biden welcomed President-elect Donald Trump and to-be-first lady Melania Trump to the White House on Monday after a service at St. John's Episcopal Church.
Biden and Trump, along with their spouses, will have tea at the presidential mansion ahead of an inauguration ceremony on Capitol Hill.
At the Capitol Rotunda ceremony, the vice president will be sworn in shortly before the president.
After taking the oath of office, Trump is expected to meet with staff and members of Congress in the President's Room adjacent to the Senate chamber. He is anticipated to make nominations and sign his first presidential executive orders.
Trump will also attend an inaugural luncheon will congressional leaders and guests.
Trump supporters, meanwhile, are set to gather at the Capital One Arena to watch the ceremony live. Following his swearing-in, Trump is expected to address supporters at the venue.
The day's events will conclude with inaugural balls held in the evening as part of the celebratory festivities.
