Artificial intelligence (AI) startup firm Anthropic unveiled Thursday Claude 3.5 Sonnet, the company's most powerful AI model.
The model is the company's first release in the forthcoming Claude 3.5 model family, it said in a statement.
"Claude 3.5 Sonnet raises the industry bar for intelligence, outperforming competitor models and Claude 3 Opus on a wide range of evaluations, with the speed and cost of our mid-tier model, Claude 3 Sonnet," it added.
The latest model provides graduate-level reasoning, undergraduate-level knowledge, coding proficiency, as it shows improvements in grasping nuance, humor, complex instructions, while it is exceptional at writing high-quality content with a natural and relatable tone, according to the firm.
It can also independently write, edit and execute code with sophisticated reasoning and troubleshooting capabilities, in addiiton to handling code translations with ease, which makes it particularly effective for updating legacy applications and migrating codebases, said the company.
Claude 3.5 Sonnet is available for free on Claude.ai and the Claude iOS app, via the Anthropic API, Amazon Bedrock and Google Cloud's Vertex AI as well, while Claude Pro and Team plan subscribers can access it with higher rate limits.
"The model costs $3 per million input tokens and $15 per million output tokens, with a 200K token context window," according to the statement.
US-based global e-commerce major Amazon made in March an additional $2.75 billion investment in Anthropic, which increased its total investment in the firm to $4 billion.
