A strong 5.8 magnitude earthquake struck the Afghanistan-Tajikistan border region on Sunday with a "low humanitarian impact," the GFZ German Research Center for Geosciences said.
The quake hit an area 25 kilometers (16 miles) away from the Rasht region of Tajikistan at 0424GMT with a "very" shallow depth of 12.6 km (8 mi) and was felt across a large region.
No immediate reports of casualties or infrastructure damages have been received.
The earthquake can have a low humanitarian impact based on the magnitude and the affected population and their vulnerability, according to the center.
