A South African man who proposed to his girlfriend, now his wife, in an KFC restaurant chain shot to fame after a journalist criticized him for being “broke” and “having no class.”
“SA [South African] men are so broke they even propose at KFC. They have absolutely no class, I mean who proposes at KFC,” the woman wrote.
Owners of the restaurant chain then started searching for the couple to support them financially. After learning their budget was limited, many people and brands took action to help the couple cover expenses for their wedding and even their honeymoon.
The lucky couple unexpectedly gained the support of world-famous brands: wedding drinks from Coca Cola, a 3D cinema ticket from Sony, a TV from another, wedding dresses from a helpful tailor and even a 5-day stay for a honeymoon in Cape Town.
