Israel continues deadly offensive on Gaza despite UN Security Council resolution demanding immediate cease-fire

Seven Palestinians were killed in Israeli airstrikes targeting homes and a tent for displaced people in the Gaza Strip on Thursday, according to medical sources.

The Civil Defense Service said five people were recovered after an Israeli strike on a home in the Shati refugee camp in Gaza City. Several people were also injured in the attack.

One person was killed and several people were wounded in another attack on a tent inside a school sheltering displaced people in Deir al-Balah in central Gaza, a medical source said.

Another strike killed one more Gazan and injured seven others in the Nuseirat refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip.

Israeli artillery shelling was also reported in several areas in eastern Gaza. A local source said Israeli army forces blew up several homes in southern Gaza City.

Israel has continued its brutal offensive on the Gaza Strip following an attack by the Palestinian group Hamas last Oct. 7, despite a UN Security Council resolution calling for an immediate cease-fire.

Nearly 41,700 people have since been killed, mostly women and children, and over 96,500 others injured, according to local health authorities.

The Israeli onslaught has displaced almost the entire population of the territory amid an ongoing blockade that has led to severe shortages of food, clean water and medicine.

Israel faces accusations of genocide at the International Court of Justice for its actions in Gaza.
