6.8 magnitude quake struck city of Xigaze in Xizang Autonomous Region, injuring dozens, Xinhua reports
At least 32 people died after a powerful earthquake rattled China's Tibet region Tuesday morning, according to the state-run Xinhua News Agency.
Dozens were also injured when the 6.8 magnitude earthquake struck the city of Xigaze in the Xizang Autonomous Region at 9.05 am local time (0105GMT) at a depth of 10 kilometers (6.2 miles), Xinhua said.
Local government officials are reaching out to various townships to assess the impact of the quake, it added.
Separately, the US Geological Survey (USGS) recorded the magnitude as 7.1.
