Executive board endorses Feb. 28 decision as situation in Ukraine 'has not evolved in a favorable way'

EuroLeague on Tuesday announced that Russian teams are officially out of both the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague and 7DAYS EuroCup in response to Moscow's war on Ukraine.

The league's executive board said the decision was taken "as the situation in Ukraine has not evolved in a favorable way."

According to the ruling, CSKA Moscow, UNICS Kazan and Zenit St. Petersburg are expelled from the EuroLeague, and Lokomotiv Kuban Krasnodar from the EuroCup for the 2021-22 season.

As announced earlier, "all regular season game results versus Russian teams will be removed from any calculation of EuroLeague and EuroCup team standings," it said.

The regular season in the 2021-22 EuroLeague will conclude on April 8, to be followed by playoffs on April 19-May 4.

On Feb. 28, the board had suspended participation of the Russian teams, saying they could be expelled if the war situation "does not evolve in a favorable way."
