Police found two fake passports, in Ronaldinho's and his brother Assis' name, during search in their hotel room

Former Brazilian football legend Ronaldinho is under police investigation in Paraguay due to an alleged fake passport that identifies him as a citizen of that country.

The arrest occurred on Wednesday night when the former player was at his resort hotel in the city of Lambare. Two fake passports, in Ronaldinho's and his brother Assis' name, were found by police during their hotel room search, according to Spanish daily Sport.

The information about the two-time FIFA Player of the Year was confirmed by Paraguay's Interior Minister Euclides Acevedo.

Ronaldinho and his brother may pass through immigration controls without any setback as Brazilian citizens do not require a passport to enter Paraguay.

The Brazilian star was in Paraguay to take part in a social responsibility project.

The tourism ambassador of Brazil, Ronaldinho, was there also to promote his book, Genio En La Vida (Genius in Life).

The Public Ministry said further information will be shared in a press conference later Thursday.

Last September, brothers recovered their passports after paying a million-dollar fine for doing construction without environmental permits, ending a 10-month foreign travel ban.
