Turkish weightlifter Şaziye Erdoğan claimed gold, silver at European Weightlifting Championship in Georgia
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan sent a message congratulating Turkish weightlifter Şaziye Erdoğan, the presidency said in a statement on Sunday.
Female weightlifter Erdogan, 27, won a gold medal in the European Weightlifting Championship in Georgia's Black Sea resort city of Batumi on Saturday.
Erdoğan, competing in the women's 45-kilogram weight category, claimed gold in snatch by lifting 70, 73 and 75 kilograms, respectively.
She also won a silver medal in the jerk by lifting 88 kg in her first round falling behind her Bulgarian counterpart Ivana Petrova.
The championships where Turkey is represented by 20 athletes both men and women will end on April 13.
