Humanitarian aid received thanks to cooperation between Ukraine and EU Civil Protection Mechanism, support of Polish Foreign Ministry, says Reintegration Ministry

Ukraine on Monday said seven front-line regions in the country have received 600 generators as they continue preparations for the upcoming winter months.

A statement by Ukraine's Reintegration Ministry said that it handed over the generators to the country's Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Luhansk, Kharkiv, Mykolaiv, Sumy and Chernihiv regions.

It said the aid became possible due to cooperation between the ministry and the EU Civil Protection Mechanism, and the support of the Polish Foreign Ministry.

“The generators will be used to ensure uninterrupted power supply to institutions of the social sphere, health care, points of unbreakability and other objects of critical infrastructure in cases of blackouts,” the statement said.

Established in 2001, the EU Civil Protection Mechanism aims to bolster cooperation between the 27-member bloc and 10 participating countries of the mechanism on crisis response and preparedness. Kyiv joined the mechanism in April 2023.

The other nine participating countries are Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Iceland, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Norway, Serbia, and Türkiye.
