The HE-T tank gun ammunition is effective in hitting targets both in the open and behind covers
Turkey’s domestically-produced and successfully tested 120 mm HE-T tank gun ammunition promises to be highly effective in destroying terror targets. Three thousand 120 mm HE-T tank gun ammunitions will be delivered to the Turkish Armed Forces (TAF) in 2018.
Tanks were previously used only against armored targets during operations. Thus, the Mechanical and Chemical Industry Corporation (MKE) – the firm behind the 120 mm HE-T tank gun ammunition –had been producing armor-piercing tank ammunition until now.
MKE launched a new research and development project following the shifting notion of targets in the Euphrates Shield and Olive Branch operations. One year later, production of the 120 mm HE-T tank gun ammunition, which is effective in striking targets both in the open and behind covers, started.
Turkish Defense Minister Nurettin Canikli announced on Sunday that the 120 mm HE-T tank gun ammunition’s test shots were successful.
