Alarms sound in Haifa, Nazareth; Israeli army issues new security measures amid conflict with Hezbollah

Rockets were fired from Lebanon toward the northern Israeli cities of Haifa and Nazareth, triggering alarms late Saturday.

Following the Israeli army's announcement of new security measures for citizens in the north, alarms sounded around Haifa and Nazareth. Reports indicate that 15 rockets were launched from Lebanon.

A missile hit a location in Nazareth, causing a fire that was captured by mobile phone footage. Social media users shared images of interceptive missiles fired from northern Israel's air defense systems in response to the incoming threats, with explosions reported in the air.

Israeli media noted that Hezbollah's recent attack targeted the Ramat David airbase near Haifa.

No statements have been made by Hezbollah about the attacks.


- New security measures Issued by Israel

The Israeli army's Home Front Command released new security instructions with gatherings restricted to 30 people in open areas and 300 in closed areas with shelters. Activities can continue normally if safe shelters are available nearby; all beaches in the regions have been closed.

Israeli army spokesperson Daniel Hagari noted that warnings could be updated in response to potential attacks.

Clashes between the army and Hezbollah continued through Sept. 21, with the Lebanese group firing more than 100 rockets into northern Israel, resulting in fires in several areas, including the occupied Golan Heights.

The army conducted two airstrikes targeting 300 locations in Lebanon, destroying hundreds of rocket launchers and thousands of warheads.


- Israeli airstrikes on Beirut

On Sept. 20, an airstrike in southern Beirut resulted in the deaths of 37 victims, including seven women and three children. Hezbollah reported that 15 members, including senior commander Ibrahim Akil, were among the casualties.

A series of bombings on Sept. 17 - 18, in Lebanon killed 76 people. Since Oct. 8, 2023, clashes along the Israel-Lebanon border have intensified sporadically.

The international community has warned of a potential regional war due to Israel's ongoing attacks.
