Israeli settlers protected by Israeli forces attack Palestinians' homes in Burqa village, burn their crops

Several Palestinians were injured Monday due to assaults by Israeli forces and settlers in the occupied West Bank.

Two Palestinians -- a father and his son -- were injured near the town of Yatta in Hebron governate as illegal Israeli settlers stopped and assaulted them with sharp objects, according to the official Palestinian news agency WAFA.

Both suffered moderate injuries and were transferred to a hospital in Hebron.

The agency also reported that dozens of Palestinians suffered temporary asphyxiation from teargas cannisters used by the Israeli army while raiding the Al-Arroub refugee camp in Hebron.

It also reported that Israeli settlers protected by Israeli forces attacked Palestinians' homes in village of Burqa in the city of Nablus and burned crops.

The Palestine Red Crescent Society said its medical teams treated a Palestinian youth in Burqa who had been confronted by settlers.

Tensions have been running high across the West Bank since Israel launched a deadly military offensive against the Gaza Strip after an attack by the Palestinian group Hamas on Oct. 7 last year.

At least 519 Palestinians have since been killed and over 4,900 others injured by Israeli army weapons gunfire in the occupied territory, according to the Health Ministry.
