Çamlıca TV Tower, which will soar 65 meters higher than the Eifel Tower, is considered the new symbol of Istanbul

The brand new TV tower gracing the Çamlica hill overlooking the Bosporus in the Asian part of Istanbul would be the new symbol and landmark of the city.

The tower, expected to hover at a height of 400 meters, would provide its visitors a 360-degree bird's-eye view of the city and surroundings.

Özgen Bölük, the project manager of the Sarıdağlar Construction, said the tower would open to visitors in June 2017.

“The construction continues. The best quality and durable materials, known as C-60, are being used for the construction," he said.

Four floors would be used as basement floors, he said, adding that the basement floors would be equipped for libraries, exhibition halls and social & cultural activities.

The main tower would hover at a height of 365 meters. By adding the height of Çamlıca hill from sea level, the top of the tower then reaches 400 meters.

“The Çamlıca TV tower would be 65 meters higher than the Eifel Tower in Paris," Bölük said, adding the project is the number one among European countries.

The main observation floor can accommodate 200 visitors at a time, while the restaurant on the top floor would have a 75-person capacity, he noted.
