Century-old village surfaces during a low tide

A century-old village has surfaced in the southern Turkish province of Kahramanmaraş over a low tide of rivers and dams, 25 years after it was evacuated.

The village, which is located in Avşar neighborhood in the town of Onikişubat, was evacuated in 1991.

Old residents of the town said they fulfilled their longing after the water's low tide.

Resident 76-year-old Durdu Ahmet Kabak was one the those who expressed his nostalgia.

Another resident, who found the chance to see their old town, said the state made the residents move to another neighborhood while a dam was being constructed.

"Some of the old residents moved to city center. All the houses made of mud-brick were destroyed, however one made of concrete remained," he added.
