Two Daesh terrorists, Danish national Mahamad Laban of Lebanese heritage and Swiss national Mohammed Tefik Saleh of Iraqi heritage, were captured in the southern Turkish city of Adana. Security forces apprehended them in a counterterrorism operation.
The two terrorists were carrying fraudulent refugee identification, and were planning a terrorist attack in Europe. They had reportedly traveled to Syria in 2014 to join Daesh.
In their initial statements, Laban and Saleh claimed to have traveled from Europe to Syria to distribute money, food and clothes. They remained in custody for 10 days before being arrested.
Upon examination, it was found that the digital devices Laban was carrying had photographs of himself with Daesh terrorists in Syria.
Laban and Saleh received intensive weapons and explosives training in the past three months in preparation for a large terrorist attack in Europe.
Saleh traveled to Syria through Turkey with his two daughters in 2014. His wife Fatima returned to Sweden after deciding against the move at the last minute. She applied to the judicial authorities in Sweden and informed them of her husband's move to Syria with their two daughters to join Daesh.
