A Russian man living in the city of Chelyabinsk posted a picture of his daughter online, putting her up for sale for 5.000 rubles ($80).
Mr. Vyacheslav depicted his 5-year-old daughter as "Masha," inspired by the Russian cartoon "Masha and the Bear," which was furthermore approved and published by an editor.
Vyacheslav stated that he would meet up with anyone who wanted to purchase his daughter at the city center and deliver her after receiving the money.
Russian cyber police who caught wind of the ad immediately launched an investigation and the father was taken into custody after an arrest warrant was issued.
The regional prosecutor’s office reported that the father will be charged for “human trafficking,” as well the editor who confirmed the ad and published it on the website.
