2 people, 8 dogs stranded due to heavy snow in national park in western Turkey

Rescue teams on Friday saved two people stranded on a 1,774-meter (5,820 feet) high mountain in western Turkey.

Due to heavy snow, two workers of a private company in Mount Ida national park, Balikesir province, had become stranded along with eight dogs.

After receiving the call at 9.30 am (0630GMT), rescue teams cleared the roads to reach all the stranded, including the dogs.

Turkey's Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD), gendarmerie forces and provincial authorities took part in the rescue operation.
