Turkish war planes level PKK's targets in Qandil region including shelters and bunkers
An unspecified number of Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) terrorists were neutralized when Turkish military aircraft hit PKK camps in northern Iraq.
“A number of PKK terrorists were neutralized when Turkish fighter jets hit shelters, bunkers in the PKK camps in Gara, Avaşin-Basyan, and Hakurk in Qandil region in northern Iraq," the Turkish General Staff said on its official site.
The airstrikes, conducted on February 18, completely destroyed a huge weapons cache belonging to the terrorist organization, which has been fighting for Kurdish self-rule in Turkey since 1984.
The strikes were carried out by F-4E 2020 and F-16 jet fighters, backed by refueling tanker planes, drones and Airborne Warning and Control Systems (AWACS) aircraft.
Turkey has carried out hundreds of raids on the terrorist group's bases on both sides of the Iraq-Turkey borders.
Turkey, the EU and the US regard the PKK as a terrorist organization.
