Turkey detains 34 people with explosives, suicide vests at Syrian border

Dozens of people detained in Oğuzeli district of southeastern Gaziantep province, across border from area controlled by Daesh terrorist group

The Turkish military detained 34 people and seized up to 15 kilograms of explosives and four suicide-bomber vests as they tried to enter Turkey from Syria, Turkish media reported the army as saying on Wednesday.



A group of 34 people, consisting of four men, 10 women and 20 children, were detained on Tuesday night in the Oğuzeli district of southeastern Gaziantep province, across the border from an area controlled by Daesh terrorist group.



The ammunition seized was examined by experts.





In January, a police operation against the Daesh terrorist group in in southeastern province of Gaziantep in Turkey revealed many of the terrorists' attack plans.



The documents found by the Turkish police in examining a computer belonging to a so-called 'Daesh official' showed that Daesh was planning 25 attacks in 18 provinces of Turkey.





Also, in the beginning of February, two suspected suicide bombers were detained at the central bus station of Söke town of the western Turkish province of Aydın.



Security ramped up over terrorist attack concerns.





Security measures have been ramped up in Turkey after a suicide bombing which targeted Istanbul's Sultanahmet Square on January 12.



The suicide attack, which killed 11 people and wounded 15 on Istanbul's Sultanahmet Square, was discovered to be orchestrated by Daesh terrorist group.



Turkey, which has become a target of the terrorist group due to its opposition to terrorism, has witnessed several terror attacks.



The suicide bombing in Istanbul followed other suicide attacks in Suruç and Ankara.
