Unknown assailants launched a pre-dawn attack on the Turkish Consulate in the Greek city of Thessaloniki, police said.
Assailants wearing masks threw as many as 20 petrol bombs at the police booth outside the Consulate building at about 04:00 am on Saturday. There is no report of how many assailants were involved in the attack, which only did minor damage to a car near the Consulate's building.
The mob fled the scene into back streets after police responded to the attack. There were no casualties reported after the attack. The motive is still unkown. It is unclear whether the attack is connected to any terrorist group.
An investigation was begun into the incident. The police booth outside the Turkish Consulate in Thessaloniki has been the target of attacks several times in the past.
