Heavy turbulence forced a passenger plane that was flying to London from Greece's western island of Corfu to make an emergency landing in Rome, local media reported on Wednesday.
The Easyjet plane with 181 travelers aboard encountered the turbulence immediately after entering Italian airspace, flying at an altitude of 8,588 meters (28,175 feet) and at 779 kilometers (464 miles) per hour, public broadcaster Rainews reported.
It made an emergency landing at Rome's Fiumicino Airport.
Two flight attendants were injured during the turbulence, it added, noting that investigations are looking into whether it was a sudden incident or whether on-board weather radar warnings were ignored.
