Gendarmerie special operation forces fight in SE Turkey to deliver PKK death blow
Turkey has sent
to the east and the southeast to fight in the ongoing encounter against the threat of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK).
Speaking to reporters at an event marking Azerbaijan's Republic Day, Gendarmerie General Command Gen. Galip Mendi said the reinforcements have been trained at the 7th Gendarmerie regiment in Foça town in Izmir .
Mendi said that the ongoing encounters in Şırnak province and Nusaybin town of Mardin province are expected to be completed soon.
"Ninety percent of the sweeping operation has been completed in central Şırnak, while 80 percent has been completed in the tense parts of Nusaybin,” he added.
