President Erdoğan addressed the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in Istanbul

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on Wednesday stated that the Muslim world was passing through a period of economic, political and social unrest addressing the Organization of Islamic Cooperation’s (OIC) 33rd meeting of the Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation (COMCEC) at the Istanbul Congress Center.

Stating that a 1,400 year-old Muslim civilization was being destroyed along with its cities, Erdoğan noted that terrorist organizations such as Daesh, al-Qaeda, Boko Haram, the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) and Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETÖ) are responsible for turning the region into a “wreckage” and specified that countries like Syria, Iraq and Yemen had been turned into a “bloodbath.”

“But this should not prevent us from seeing the real actors, scenarists behind this. A dirty scenario aimed at destroying the unity and future of the Muslim world is being implemented. Muslim communities are trying to be internally brought down by provoking ethnic, religious or sectarian diversities,” he stated.

Erdoğan also noted that Islamophobia, neo-Nazism and racism have replaced democracy and freedom in the West.

‘Who really profits from the arms deals?’

The Turkish President also urged the members of the committee to reevaluate the recent developments to find out who the real profiters of the billion dollars of arms orders are, which the Muslim countries make from the West.

"Who benefits from disintegrating our countries through artificial borders," he questioned.

‘Preferential trade should be speeded up’

Regarding the trade between the Muslim countries, Erdoğan said: “We should attach more importance to increasing the number of our projects to boost our trade. We should bring the preferential trade system into force. I call on countries to take action in this regard. Every day we spend in vain is a huge loss for us. We are trying to provide the greatest support to such efforts.”
