Assailant attempted to shoot Turkish journalist Can Dündar outside courthouse in Istanbul
An assailant attempted to shoot Turkish journalist Can Dündar outside the courthouse in Istanbul, just before the court was due to announce the verdict in Dündar's trial on accusations of revealing state secrets.
The assailant fired at least three shots in rapid succession. Dündar was unharmed but another reporter, Yağız Şenkal, covering the trial for Turkish NTV television appears to have been injured.
Şenkal said that a bullet grazed his leg and his condition is good.
"I was walking with Can Dündar, asking for a short interview when the incident occurred. One of the three bullets glanced off my leg. I am fine," he said.
Can Dündar described the attack as an 'intimidation'.
The assailant was detained following the incident.
