Turkey hits terror targets in Iraq's north with fresh artillery strikes
Turkish armed forces have shelled Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) positions in northern Iraq and neutralized a total of five terrorists, the military has said.
According to the military's statement, mortar rounds have also destroyed a terror target, used as an ammunation store, west of Kesta village.
Initial findings revealed that four PKK terrorists were killed and another was injured when Turkey pounded terror targets.
The air strike was conducted after a drone fllying along the Turkish-Iraqi border detected their location.
Turkey, the EU and the U.S. regard the PKK as a terrorist organization. The PKK called off a ceasefire they had been adhering to since 2013, and resumed attacks. The authorities have imposed curfews on parts of southeastern Turkey as part of its action against the PKK threat.
